According to the research done in mid-2018 on different metering practices of different states in India, various complaints have been lodged regarding different issues being faced by the consumers. In Maharashtra, more than 1.05 lacs and 2.7 lacs complaints were lodged on Meter-readings and false billings respectively while in West-Bengal, Meter-reading complaints registered were more than 1.3 lacs.
